Jamie O’Hara has admitted that he is stunned about Arsenal trying to sign Aaron Ramsdale.
The Sheffield United goalkeeper looks to be the next player that the Gunners go after, after already wrapping up deals for Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga – and Ben White, more or less.
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are set to go ‘all in’ for Ramsdale, who was relegated with the Blades last season.
The North Londoners have already had two bids rejected and will need to pay around £30 million for the player, prompting O’Hara to claim that the Emirates Stadium club are an absolute ‘mess’ in light of selling Emiliano Martinez – a better player – for £10 million less than what they could pay for Ramsdale.
He told talkSPORT: “This literally sums Arsenal up. It sums them up business-wise. They got rid of Martinez who is a brilliant keeper for £20 million. And now they’re going to sign somebody from a relegated team for £30 million! What are they doing! Who is doing their business? They are a mess.”
Spot-on
O’Hara is a questionable pundit at the best of times and quite often issues contentious statements.
But on this occasion, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is bang on the money.
Martinez, who joined Aston Villa, was one of the best and most consistent Premier League players last season.
And for Arsenal to be spending £10 million more on his replacement, who isn’t as good, it really is absolutely puzzling and you do wonder what the Gunners’ strategy is here.
