Harry Redknapp told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (13/02/21 at 2:20 pm) that West Ham defender Craig Dawson has been ‘one of the signings of the season’.
The Englishman admitted that when West Ham opted to sign Dawson from Watford in the summer, he questioned ‘what are they doing?’.
Dawson had just been relegated with Watford but those in the East London boardroom saw something in the player.
And Redknapp expressed surprise at how Dawson has seemingly proven him wrong and hailed the side David Moyes is building.
“Yes, I have (surprised by West Ham this season),” said Redknapp. “He has done a great job their David Moyes, hasn’t he? For me, one of the signings of the season has to be Dawson. What a signing that was on a loan from Watford.
“Suddenly, he’s not getting into Watford’s team and you are thinking ‘what are they doing taking him?’ But he has been outstanding. In every game, I have seen he really has been top-draw.
“David has put out a good team. They are solid. Antonio is a threat to everybody. The big midfielder Soucek, he gets into the box and scores goals.
“The other right-back. He’s done ever so well. They look a very, very good outfit. No-one gets an easy game for West Ham.”

It’s not just Dawson who is coming of good at the London Stadium but several players they have purchased under Moyes and those who have already been there.
One standout quality Moyes has shown is his ability to get the best out of his players, take their game to the next level and get the best out of those who were previously struggling.
Aaron Cresswell is a prime example of that because he has been an unsung hero at the back for West Ham, both defensively and going forward, and whether Moyes is playing a back three or flat back four.
