Graham Roberts has passionately defended Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane.

Kane was the hero again for Spurs this afternoon as Jose Mourinho’s side edged out West Bromwich Albion with an 88th-minute winner from the man himself.

In doing so, the Tottenham striker now has an eye-watering 13 goals and 10 assists in only 14 appearances across all competitions.

Former Lilywhites attacker Darren Bent claimed to talkSPORT on Friday that in his opinion, the 27-year-old isn’t one of the best five strikers to ever play in the Premier League.

Bent said: “Kane’s certainly got the potential – if he carries on on this path – to be one of the greats. I don’t think I put him in the top five yet. Longevity has to play a part.”

Kane’s goal at The Hawthorns was his 150th in England’s top flight, putting him level with Michael Owen and 25 adrift of Thierry Henry, who sits sixth in the all-time chart.

And Roberts has slated Bent for his claim in light of his goal in the West Midlands.

Roberts is out of order in insulting Bent.

Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole, Sergio Aguero and Henry – the five most prolific strikers in the competition’s history – have 17 Premier League titles between them.

Although there’s still time, Kane, as of now, comes up short in terms of goals and honours, so Bent is hardly an ‘idiot’ for revealing that he doesn’t make his top-five list just yet.
