Graham Roberts has reacted to Totteham Hotspur’s draw on Twitter – and paid tribute to the departing Jan Vertonghen.

Spurs rounded off their season with a 1-1 draw away to Crystal Palace, ensuring that they finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League.

Harry Kane fired Tottenham into a 1-0 lead at the break, but Jeff Schlupp equalised within eight minutes of the restart.

One of the subplots of this afternoon’s game was not only whether Jose Mourinho’s side would qualify for Europe, but if the Portuguese would use Vertonghen.

The Belgium international is set to leave North London on a Bosman after eight years of service, but Mourinho didn’t bring him off the bench at any stage.

In fact, the Lilywhites boss even put Davinson Sanchez, another centre-back, on ahead of Vertonghen in the final stages.

Coming on as a 91st-minute substitute against Newcastle last week proved his final appearance in a Tottenham shirt.

Here’s what Roberts wrote about the long-serving defender on Twitter:
