America’s female contingent have performed magnificently at the Australian Open so far.
On Sunday, Coco Gauff booked her place in the quarter-finals for the third consecutive year after beating Karolina Muchova in three sets.
Iva Jovic, 18, joined her compatriot in the last eight after demolishing Yulia Putintseva 6-1, 6-0.
This morning, Jessica Pegula continued the American march, defeating defending champion Madison Keys to secure her place in the quarter-finals.
Later on, Amanda Anisimova became the fourth American to reach the quarter-finals after beating Wang Xinyu 7-6, 6-4.

American WTA players make history
For the first time since 2001, there will be four American players in the Australian Open Women’s Singles quarter-finals.
In 2001, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Lindsay Davenport all reached the quarter-final stage in Melbourne.
Venus Williams, Capriati and Davenport all reached the semi-finals. Serena Williams was knocked out by top seed Martina Hingis.
Hingis knocked out Venus Williams in the semi-finals, and she would face Jennifer Capriati in the final after the young American defeated Davenport.
Capriati defeated Hingis 6-4, 6-3 to claim her first major singles title. She went on to defend her title in 2002, defeating Hingis in the final once again.

Will an American emulate Capriati’s triumph?
The American contingent have certainly placed themselves in a strong position heading into the last few rounds of the 2026 Australian Open.
Amanda Anisimova is perhaps the most likely American player to win the title, considering she is yet to drop a set in Melbourne.
However, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula should not be written off. Gauff possesses more grit than any other player on the Tour and rarely shirks from the big occasion at Grand Slams, while Pegula more than proved her credentials by beating Madison Keys so handily on Monday.
Iva Jovic is the outside contender, and she has a tricky quarter-final match in the form of Aryna Sabalenka, the world number one.
If Jovic upsets the two-time Australian Open champion, she will be considered a major contender for the title.
