Newcastle United are said to have been offered Daniel Sturridge, with Steve Bruce weighing up whether to move for the free agent forward.

Sturridge is currently a free agent, and his representatives have reportedly been in contact with Newcastle over a potential deal.
Whether Steve Bruce will opt to bring in Sturridge remains to be seen, as his wages could be prohibitive for Newcastle.
Sturridge struggled for game time and form at Liverpool last season, with his injury problems proving difficult to overcome.
When Sturridge was handed opportunities to start, he rarely impressed and Newcastle legend Shearer was one of his fiercest critics.
Sturridge was picked to start in Liverpool’s FA Cup match against Wolves back in January, but he put in an awful display, as the Reds crashed out of the competition.

And Shearer ripped into Sturridge and Divock Origi on Match of the Day.
He said, as quoted by TeamTalk: “They have done nothing. They’re playing as individuals. No movement, flat, no energy. I can’t even see they’ve had a sweat on. They’ve offered nothing whatsoever.
“[Jurgen] Klopp should be going berserk at them, in particular, at half time. If Klopp’s put them in the shop window, no one will buy them.”
Origi bounced back from Shearer’s criticism and ended up playing an important role at Liverpool over the rest of the campaign.
Sturridge, though, continued to struggle and was ultimately released.
It now remains to be seen whether Newcastle will opt to bring him to St. James’ Park, but if he did turn up on Tyneside, Shearer would be hoping for a big improvement in the striker’s showings.
