There’s Deja Vu, then there’s a crazy version of Deja Vu and Arsenal defender Gabriel was at the heart of it.
Last season, Gabriel lost his gold tooth against Brighton, well, you never guessed it, but the Arsenal man has done it again, and against the very same team.
After Mikel Arteta’s side recorded a goalless draw at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening, Gabriel was out on the pitch, in the pouring rain, searching for that tooth.
Arsenal fans are just staggered at what they are seeing because they just can’t believe it has happened again.
Some of the £23 million player’s (BBC Sport) supporters have now advised him to wear a mouth guard because Brighton are seemingly now some kind of curse.
Either way, this is one for the comic books because losing a tooth once is hilarious enough, but doing it twice.
It had to have happened when he went up for an aerial challenge of some kind because Brighton do have some physical players in their team.
Whilst Graham Potter likes to play the fancy football, he can also mix it up and use his more powerful players to get the ball talking, as he proved yesterday.
Arsenal will feel that they were lucky to leave with a point and without Gabriel’s tooth because the South Coast club were the better side, especially in the first half.
But credit should also go to Arteta’s backline because, a number of weeks ago, they would have conceded.
And now, for once, they are showing this fighting spirit and are now seemingly starting to move forward once again.
