Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Steven Gerrard being linked with the managerial vacancy at Everton.
On Tuesday, if there was any shocking news coming out of Merseyside then many expected it to involve Liverpool and not Everton.
All the spotlight was on Trent Alexander-Arnold and whether the Liverpool defender would make the 26-man squad for Euro 2020 – he did, along with three other right-backs.
But over at Everton, it was all unfolding with Carlo Ancelotti leaving the club for Real Madrid in a surprising move before a Liverpool legend was being linked with the vacant role.
The Athletic claim that Gerrard, who is perhaps Liverpool’s greatest ever player, is a candidate to become the next boss at Goodison Park.
Liverpool fans have made it pretty clear that they cannot see such a deal happening given Gerrard’s status at Anfield.
The 41-year-old recently won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers and helped end Celtic’s surge for ten-in-a-row.
Many players have crossed the Merseyside divide before and Liverpool fans made it pretty clear that such a move won’t materialise.
But given that the Englishman is on their list, it has got many, many people talking and it will be a hot topic on that side of the country.
