Stan Collymore has stated in The Mirror that it would be a shame if Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane does not play in the Champions League next season.

The former Liverpool striker has raved about Kane, and believes that given his talent and quality, the England international should be playing in the Champions League.

Collymore has also stated that “it would be a wrench” for the 26-year-old if he has to leave Spurs this summer.

Spurs will not play in the Champions League next season as they will not finish in the top four of the Premier League table this campaign, and Jose Mourinho’s side may not even be in the Europa League.

Collymore wrote in The Mirror: “Harry Kane has to be playing for a Champions League club next season. What a waste of talent if he plays Europa League, or no Euro football at all.

“He passed 20 goals for Spurs again last week – for the sixth consecutive season. And he roared past 200 club goals, all but a handful for Spurs.

“It would be a wrench for him to leave after so many years of service and the chance to smash even more club records at White Hart Lane.

“At just 26, he reckons another 200 club goals are possible. But will they be for the North London club?”

Unlikely Tottenham Hotspur exit

Kane has had injury problems this season, but the England international is still banging in the goals for Spurs.

According to WhoScored, the Englishman has scored 17 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League and has scored six goals in the Champions League this season.

It is very unlikely that Tottenham will sell Kane this summer even for a lot of money, as he is a huge player for the team and is very popular among the fans.
