Graham Roberts has taken the opportunity to mock former Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen on Twitter.
It’s been a very difficult calendar year for the Denmark international.
Eriksen called time on his six-and-a-half year stint at Tottenham back in January to join Inter Milan, following well over a full season of tired and sub-par performances for Spurs.
But the grass isn’t proving to be greener in Milan than it was in North London, with the 28-year-old managing only 10 Serie A starts under Antonio Conte.
The former Ajax playmaker remains on the fringes of things in Italy, evident by the fact he only got 11 minutes in last night’s Champions League stalemate with Shakhtar Donetsk.
And here’s how Tottenham legend Roberts reacted on Twitter:
Tottenham fans could justifiably raise a wry smile in response to Eriksen’s struggles.
After all, this is the player who went on record as saying that he wanted to leave the Lilywhites, just days after their Champions League final defeat by Liverpool in June of 2019.
You can’t fault Eriksen for wanting to win things – but Jose Mourinho, a two-time Champions League winner and three-time Premier League title winner, was Spurs boss at the time of his exit and maybe, just maybe, he should’ve stuck around to see the Portuguese’s long-term plan.
