
Anthony Pilkington has praised Joe Gelhardt on Twitter following the youngster’s move to Leeds United.
As announced on Leeds’s official website on Monday evening, the Whites have signed Gelhardt from Wigan Athletic.
The West Yorkshire outfit, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, have secured the services of the 18-year-old striker on a four-year contract.
Pilkington played with the teenager at Wigan, and the 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international winger is delighted for the striker and has raved about him on Twitter.
Leeds also announced on Monday that attacker Jack Harrison has returned to Elland Road on another season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, spent the 2018-19 season as well as the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Elland Road from Premier League side City.
Former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford is pleased to see Harrison and Gelhardt join Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

According to WhoScored, Harrison scored six goals and provided eight assists in 46 Championship matches for Leeds last season.
Gelhardt made two starts and 16 substitute appearances in the Championship for Wigan last season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.
