What a turnaround it’s been for Tanguy Ndombele at Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Lyon midfielder had a pretty dismal first season in North London last term and there was speculation about there not being a chance to turn things around.
Ndombele was failing to make Jose Mourinho’s matchday squads toward the end of last season amid reports of a bust-up between the Tottenham boss and player.
But it seems like there was a successful resolution because this season, the 24-year-old has been playing out of his skin.
And last Sunday, Ndombele produced arguably his finest moment in a Lilywhites shirt when he superbly lobbed Aaron Ramsdale in the win away to Sheffield United.
It was also a very rare occasion that the French powerhouse has managed 90 minutes under Mourinho.
And here’s what Tottenham legend Graham Roberts said to Spurs Web about him on YouTube.
Roberts said: “Well I think he was unhappy last season because Jose came in and he was in and out of the team. He worked hard in the pre-season – the bit they had – and he looks a lot fitter now. What a talent.”
Daniel Levy must get some credit for Ndombele’s form, too.
Remember, it was Levy who spent £63 million on the player in 2019, making him Tottenham’s most expensive signing of all time.
And Mourinho himself admitted that the club’s chairman did indeed have a role in helping him stay in North London last summer when it looked for all the world that an exit was looming.
