Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter after watching footage of Barcelona wonderkid Pedri, who is said to be a target for Liverpool.

It was the Mirror who claimed that Jürgen Klopp wants to sign the 19-year-old, and the German’s desire to buy the Spaniard has surely increased after what happened on Thursday.

What’s the story?

Well, Pedri – who has a release clause worth €1bn (£840m) – scored an equaliser against Galatasaray on Thursday as Barcelona came from behind to win 2-1.

The goal oozed sheer class, as the teenager faked to shoot on two occasions, moving two defenders out of the way before cooly slotting home.

You can see what Lineker thought of Pedri’s brilliance below.

Clearly, the BBC Match of the Day host is a big fan of the Barcelona maestro.

So far this season, Pedri has scored three goals, while also providing one assist, in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool must sign Pedri soon

If Liverpool really do want to sign Pedri, they’ll have to make a move soon.

If not, they will probably miss the boat.

Under Xavi, Barcelona are clearly on the up, although their financial issues are still present as things stand.

Therefore, that could be the only way Liverpool lure Pedri to Anfield.

In a few years, Barcelona will probably be financially stable again with no need to sell, while Pedri will also, presumably, be among the best players in Europe.

If Klopp truly wants to sign the Spanish prospect, it may be a now or never situation.
