Celtic fans have taken to Twitter in frustration after hearing that Everton have joined the race to sign Royal Antwerp defender Aurelio Buta.
What’s the story?
Well, just a matter of days ago, Celtic had a bid accepted by Royal Antwerp, which was believed to be worth £3m.
At that point, Celtic just needed to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old, although that process has dragged on.
Now, it has been said that Rafa Benitez wants Everton to hijack the deal, with the Toffees preparing a £3m bid of their own.
Of course, that’s a real gut-punch for Ange Postecoglou, who will surely be fearful of Everton’s pulling power.
Two things Celtic can do about Everton’s interest in Aurelio Buta

Firstly, the Bhoys could simply move onto another right-back target.
This would be wise, as even before news of Everton’s interest broke, Buta seemed to be taking his time over personal terms, which is concerning.
On the other hand, Postecoglou could sit and wait in hope that Everton agree a deal for PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries, who is seemingly their No.1 choice.
That would be risky, in our view.

Celtic can’t sit around and wait for others to do their business first.
Postecoglou desperately needs a right-back, the sooner the better.
For now, let’s see how the Celtic fans reacted after hearing about Everton’s interest in Buta…
