Some Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to possibly signing the son of an iconic former player.

According to Goal’s Charles Watts, the Gunners have handed a trial to Mitchel Bergkamp, the son of the legendary Dutchman Dennis.

The report claims that the 22-year-old midfielder – who is a free agent – has been training with Steve Bould’s Under-23 side at Arsenal’s training ground this week.

Here’s how fans of the North London club reacted to the rumour of possibly signing Bergkamp junior.

It must be said that even if Arsenal do sign him, it’ll be as a reserve player.

He was released from a club in the second tier of Dutch football during the summer and therefore it seems unlikely that he’ll be starting senior games under Mikel Arteta anytime soon.

That being said, you could have said the same about other players on Arsenal’s books only a few months ago, players like Mo Elneny who has resurrected his career in North London in a big way.

Elneny is clearly a lot more developed and polished than Mitchel Bergkamp, but you never know.
