What a second-half cameo from Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott tonight.
Liverpool edged out Norwich City to progress into the next round of the FA Cup, winning 2-1.
Elliott helped the Reds to Carabao Cup success last Sunday and was named on the bench for the visit of the Canaries tonight.
However, the 18-year-old, a £4.3 million signing in 2019, came on at half time, replacing Curtis Jones.
And former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock was blown away by the former Fulham academy starlet.
He said to BBC Radio 5 Live Sport: “Harvey Elliott has been sensational since he’s come on. What a player he’ll be with more games!”
Indeed, ‘sensational’ is as good a word as any to describe the teenager.
Having missed most of this season through injury, Elliott is slowly but surely getting back to his best which, considering the nature of his injury, is fair enough.
He suffered a horrendous ankle injury in a victory at Leeds United back in September, but to be back and producing cameos like this, five months after the visit to Elland Road, is one hell of a testament to the youngster.
And Warnock is right; with more games, he’s such a devastating proposition for English defences.
