Ross McCausland helped inspire Rangers B-Team to victory over Hammarby in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday night, and impressed some fans on social media in the process.
The Northern Ireland youth international scored twice as the Gers won the first-leg 3-0 at home to the Swedish outfit. McCausland could have even broken the deadlock inside five-minutes, but for a fine stop after gliding past the Hammarby defence.
McCausland caused problems for Bajen’s development side throughout the encounter and came close to scoring with several attempts. Goalkeeper William Bjorklund constantly had to stay alert to deny the 18-year-old, who signed a new three-year contract on Monday.
McCausland finally had his first goal and Rangers’ second of the game after firing a rocket past Bjorklund. He slipped past Markus Karlsson to the right-hand side of the box to fashion an opening. And had his brace in the latter stages with a composed lob over Bjorklund.

Rangers B-Team are now in a comfortable position to progress past the Last 32 of the UEFA Youth League. Reserve boss David McCallum will also hope their form from beating Hammarby in fashion carries into the Scottish Lowland League.
The Glasgow outfit’s youngsters sit second in the standings, four-points behind Bonnyrigg Rose but with two games in hand. McCausland has been a crucial part of Rangers B-Team’s efforts, and his UEFA Youth League exploits thrilled fans on Tuesday.
