Federico Valverde to Liverpool has been a transfer rumour popped up in recent days.
According to AS in Spain, Liverpool were willing to break their club record to sign the Real Madrid midfielder in the final days of the window, having already shattered the previous record of £85 million to sign Darwin Nunez earlier in the window.
Obviously a transfer to Anfield never materialised and Fabrizio Romano has tweeted what he’s heard about the player.
According to the reliable Italian journalist, the Spanish giants never had any intention of selling the 24-year-old Uruguay international despite speculation about a switch to the Premier League, with Romano claiming that Carlo Ancelotti loves him.
He said on Twitter:

Liverpool are linked to a lot of big-money midfielders and it’s been reported today that they’re leading the race to sign Jude Bellingham, as covered by HITC Sport.
Talented as Valverde may be, Bellingham is five years younger and the England international is going to be an absolute star of football in the near future.
Would a club-record move for Valverde have impeded their effort to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder next summer? Perhaps.
And honestly, Jurgen Klopp and FSG will be happy to have missed Valverde if it means definitely getting the Birmingham-born starlet in 2023.
