Rhys Williams has hailed Diogo Jota on Instagram, after the Portuguese forward netted Liverpool’s 10,000th goal last night in the Champions League.
Jota tapped in from close range as Liverpool beat Midtjylland 2-0 at Anfield.
The summer signing was keen to celebrate on social media, and Williams responded by posting ‘what a player’ in the comments.
Williams, himself, also took on board great praise last night – as he continues to be thrown in at the deep end by Jurgen Klopp.
The teenager was brought off the bench to replace Fabinho in the heart of Liverpool’s defence and he did not looked overawed by the occasion.
Williams has now played in both of Liverpool’s Champions League games this season, and he could earn more game time in the near future.
Liverpool are suffering badly with injuries at the back, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Fabinho all on the treatment table.
