Jurgen Klopp seems to be a big fan of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, even if the striker’s playing time suggests otherwise.
Sturridge has started a total of six Premier League and Champions League games this season, scoring four goals.
The 29-year-old striker appears to be behind both Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi in Klopp’s pecking order and it seems unlikely that he’ll be at Anfield come the start of next season.
Nevertheless, in an interview with Via Sport, the German manager appears to be a big fan.
Klopp was tasked with identifying his players by using only their childhood pictures and here’s what he told Via Sport about Sturridge: “That’s Daniel Sturridge. I’ve come from training a second ago and he was showing what a player he is.”
Liverpool have a date with destiny in Madrid tonight.
Klopp’s side take on Tottenham in the final of the Champions League. Sturridge will be among the substitutes, but it’s unlikely that he’ll get any minutes, especially if Firmino is fit.
If the Brazilian attacker is available, Origi, who scored twice in the exceptional 4-0 win over Barcelona last month, will be second-in-command.
