Speaking to OTB, Jason McAteer has been discussing Harvey Elliott after his return from injury for Liverpool.

The teenager started this season in fine fettle, but sadly, back in September, he was struck down by an injury against Leeds United, dislocating his ankle.

Luckily though, the midfielder returned in early 2022, and he even played a part in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, scoring a penalty in the shootout.

McAteer has been very impressed by Elliott since his return, and he believes that the youngster is already back up to speed.

What’s been said?

The pundit gave his view on the former Fulham man.

“Take Harvey Elliott now, he wasn’t even in the squad yesterday, and he takes one of the penalties, he comes on and he sorts the fight out with Rudiger and he’s in the mix of it. What a player he is, he is right up to speed now. We have this squad now, do they have the ability to win the quadruple? I think they can with this squad,” McAteer said.

Back to his best

Elliott looks back to his best, and that’s great to see.

The severe injury he suffered against Leeds could really have affected his career. He’s still growing and a dislocation in an area like that could cause you issues for years to come.

Luckily, Elliott had the best medical treatment available to him and a strong rehabilitation period, and now, he’s back doing what he does best.

He’s back up to speed, and at the age of just 18, he’s mixing it up with some of the world’s best.
