Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been raving over the performance of Matt Targett against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

Villa have every right to feel a little unlucky after losing 2-0 at the Etihad, with a questionable VAR call and a late penalty condemning them to defeat.

Unfortunately, the scoreline doesn’t reflect how well Villa played, and one man in particular was on top form.

Indeed, Matt Targett had one of his best games in an Aston Villa shirt against Man City, but unfortunately, Pep Guardiola’s side managed to get through once Targett went off with an injury.

As you can imagine, fans were concerned about his injury, but that’s largely down to how well the left-back played.

Indeed, Targett had one of the toughest tasks in world football in trying to keep tabs on Man City’s wingers, but he passed his test with flying colours, making five tackles and four interceptions to ensure that City were kept at bay while he was on the pitch.

Here’s what the Villa Park faithful have been saying on social media…
