Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a surprise move to sign Andrea Belotti.
According to Di Marzio, Spurs have tried and failed to get the Torino hitman on a season-long loan.
The report adds that Tottenham were interested in having an option to sign him permanently for £46 million next summer, but the Serie A outfit rejected it.
In this day and age, normally there is a lot of speculation about a bid before it’s actually lodged, but this one has caught people by surprise.
Belotti scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Italian side last season and some Tottenham fans are very keen on the idea of bringing him to North London.
Here’s how they’ve reacted to the speculation:
Even if it isn’t Belotti, Tottenham absolutely need a striker.
Harry Kane is the only recognised number nine in Jose Mourinho’s squad and although others, like Son Heung-min, can play there, the Portuguese coach needs a real striker.
The club have also been linked with moves for Troy Deeney and Arkadiusz Milik.
