Kevin de Bruyne has reacted on Instagram to Raheem Sterling heading out of the exit door at Manchester City, with rumours he is on the verge of joining Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has had a lot of admirers this summer, with Tottenham and Arsenal also keen to bring him on board, but he is heading to Stamford Bridge instead.

On Wednesday, whilst Sterling didn’t mention the Chelsea move, he did thank those at the Etihad for everything they have done for him and how he ‘arrived as a 20-year-old but leaves as a man’.

The multiple Premier League winner added that it’s been an ‘honour’ to wear the Manchester City colours, as he starts a new chapter in his career.

In the comments section of Sterling’s post, de Bruyne posted ‘what a player’, whilst Celtic goalkeeper, Joe Hart, told him to ‘keep shining’.

BOLD MOVE FROM STERLING

During Sterling’s time at Manchester City, he won four Premier League titles and scored 131 goals in the colours of the current champions.

That fresh-faced youngster that left Liverpool for the Etihad all those years ago has proven his worth, but is he a world-class performer?

For some, he’s not despite his success under Pep Guardiola because some feel he should be hitting big numbers given the dominant team he has played for.

Either way, Chelsea aren’t at the level of Manchester City, but if he can elevate them during this coming season, then it will bode well for how he is viewed.

The 77-cap England international is set to turn 28 in December, so from that perspective, he is at the peak of his powers.
