David Beckham has praised Tottenham and Arsenal transfer target, Brennan Johnson, for earning promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
The former England captain posted on his Instagram story ‘what a season’ and ‘what a player’, as Forest’s promotion could hinder Tottenham and Arsenal’s chances of signing the versatile forward.
The Daily Mail have reported that several Premier League clubs, including those from north London, want to sign the £20 million-rated forward.
Well, that might prove to be a difficult task now the two-time European champions have returned to the big time after a 23-year absence.
Now, Forest have the power to offer a big contract to their star youngster, as well as demand a big fee if anyone comes knocking for his services.
Nonetheless, as Johnson celebrated Forest’s promotion on Instagram, Beckham sent him these messages.
“What a season, what a player,” said the former Manchester United winger. “Congratulations and welcome to the Premier League.
He added: “Congratulations mate. What a moment and what a season.”
JOHNSON TO STAY AT THE CITY GROUND?
If Forest had lost the play-off final to Huddersfield, then the Midlands side probably would have had to part ways with Johnson.
But, not now, especially given that this is their first time back in the big time since the turn of the century – Aston Villa’s Matty Cash was certainly delighted at their return.
Johnson, who is a boyhood Forest fan, wasn’t even born when they were last locking horns with the big boys in the Premier League.
So, upon their return, he will probably, for now, turn away from any possible transfer elsewhere.
