Curtis Jones was part of England’s training squad leading up to Euro 2024, but the Liverpool man was then axed when it was cut short to 26.
The 23-year-old wasn’t the only Liverpool player denied the chance to play in his first major tournament because Jarell Quansah was also left out after his breakthrough campaign.
Instead, it was an early holiday for the duo, with Curtis Jones still paying attention to the goings-on in Germany as many of the big teams fail to impress.
No Upcoming Fixtures
Several Liverpool players aren’t just featuring in the European tournament, but also at the Copa America.
New boss Arne Slot will be delighted to hear and see that a number of his players are putting in some eye-catching performances.
Darwin Nunez is ripping it up over in America for Marcelo Bielsa’s all-action Uruguay side – he has scored two goals for his nation who have made it three wins from three so far.
But the Liverpool speedster could have some serious competition in the form of Netherlands star Cody Gakpo.
He scored and assisted as the Dutch beat Romania 3-0 to book their quarter-final ticket at Euro 2024 and showdown with Turkey.

But perhaps Ronald Koeman is showing how it should be done because Gakpo is being used as a left-sided winger, not down the middle.
Jurgen Klopp loved using the versatile Dutch star as a centre-forward and perhaps Slot needs to change that up, even though Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Nunez can all play on the left flank.
