Some Arsenal and Newcastle United fans are singing the praises of Joe Willock on Twitter.

The Gunners loaned out their 21-year-old academy player in the January transfer window after it became clear that he wouldn’t get many chances under Mikel Arteta.

Newcastle won the race for the Arsenal midfielder and it looks a very happy union between the two so far.

Willock opened his account early on his loan spell and on Friday, impressed in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

It was the sort of midfield display that makes you wonder if Arteta will be keen to get him back during the summer transfer window.

And suffice to say that both Arsenal and Magpies fans were gushing over his display.

Here’s what some are saying on social media:

Much of what happens with Willock at Arsenal could hinge on Martin Odegaard.

Arteta brought the 22-year-old in from Real Madrid on a half-season loan and he seems to be getting better and better, evident by a thunderous first goal for the club in the Europa League on Thursday.

And if the Emirates Stadium side can sign him on a permanent basis, Willock might wind up staying at Newcastle for the long term, too.
