Aubameyang was the star of the show for Arsenal in the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in London this evening.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker scored both goals for the Gunners in their 2-1 win against Frank Lampard’s side.
The 31-year-old striker found the net first in the 28th minute from the penalty spot and then with a delightful finish midway through the second half.
Former Liverpool midfielder Murphy, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, was following the match, and he was impressed with the Gabon international striker’s second goal, and believes that he is a world-class footballer.
Murphy told BBC Sport: “Wow! What a finish! What a player! Nicolas Pepe picks Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out and he’s onside.
“Look at that dink… He’s a world class footballer. We have seen how important it is today for Arsenal to keep him. It’s a beautiful, beautiful finish.”
Arsenal’s best player
Aubameyang has been arguably the best player for Arsenal since he joined the club, and the two goals he scored against Chelsea in the FA Cup this evening once again show just how he important he is to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Prior to the game, former Arsenal star Paul Merson outlined in The Daily Star the importance of the Gunners keeping the 31-year-old beyond the summer.
If Arsenal are to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season, then they simply cannot afford to sell Aubameyang this summer.
