Alex Mowatt has hailed Kalvin Phillips on Instagram after the Leeds United midfielder’s latest message.
Phillips posted a season review on Instagram yesterday, after what has been a wonderful campaign for Leeds.
And Mowatt’s response sums up just how many Leeds supporters feel towards their 25-year-old midfielder.
He simply wrote ‘what a player’ in the comments.
Former Leeds player Tyler Denton also praised his ex-teammate, writing: ‘what a season brother’.
Intriguingly Phillips did not mention the injury that he picked up on the final day of the season.
The Leeds midfielder damaged his shoulder against West Bromwich Albion and initially there were fears that he could miss the Euro’s this summer.
However, Leeds moved to allay those fears yesterday – and suggested that he will be fit.
That should mean that Phillips is selected in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the competition.
The Leeds enforcer has been a key player in recent international breaks, and now seems to be a firm part of his country’s plans for the summer.
Phillips and played alongside West Ham United’s Declan Rice of late for England and with Jordan Henderson struggling for fitness, the pair could be Southgate’s first choice pairing in the coming weeks.
