Scott Brown has sent a farewell message to his friend Jonny Hayes after leaving Celtic.

The Irish winger revealed on Instagram last night that he was leaving Parkhead after three years in Glasgow.

Hayes, who was signed by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, was out of contract this summer and it appears as if no extension was agreed.

The 32-year-old struck up a friendship with the Bhoys captain during his stint at the club.

And here’s what Brown wrote in response to Hayes on Instagram: “Going to miss you my man. What a man and what a player. Hard going in the dressing room to replace x”.

Brown, a £4.4 million signing in 2007 [The Guardian], isn’t the only one who’s going to miss Hayes.

Quite a lot of Celtic fans are also upset over the fact he’s leaving, with the former Aberdeen winger developing into something of a James Milner-type figure over the past year or so.

Hayes was the Hoops’ Mr Reliable when it comes to application on the field, regardless of where he was asked to play.

And despite being something of a squad player for much of his spell at Celtic, it’s testament to his attitude and personality that he leaves a big role nonetheless.
