Newcastle United fans are not at all pleased with reports that the players apparently want Steve Bruce to stay on and keep his job.

The Daily Mirror claim that Newcastle’s players are eager for Bruce to stay on, with their takeover on the verge of going through.

But Magpies fans believe that the squad are showing a lack of ambition by not wanting a more high profile boss.

Bruce’s chances of staying on when Newcastle’s takeover do appear limited, even if the players want him to stick around.

The Magpies have already been linked with some very high profile names, including Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri.

Newcastle are still waiting for their takeover to be officially confirmed by the Premier League, but that is expected to happen sooner rather than later.

Bruce has led Newcastle into 13th place in the Premier League table this season, and is largely regarded to have done a credible job.
