It has been confirmed that Jordan Henderson will play no further part in Liverpool’s season.

Liverpool have a massive four Premier League games to go but their captain won’t be involved at all.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed to a press conference on Wednesday that Henderson – absent since February with a groin injury – wouldn’t kick another ball for the team until the 2021-22 campaign.

And even though he’s been out for almost three months, it’s still a bit of a blow.

That’s because Liverpool have four cup finals – pardon the cliche – in their pursuit of Champions League qualification, starting with a tricky trip to Manchester United tonight.

After that, Klopp’s side are away to West Brom and Burnley, before rounding off what could yet be a decent season with a visit of Crystal Palace to Anfield on May 23.

But Liverpool will be without their skipper and here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to it on Twitter:

Chelsea’s defeat by Arsenal last night has blown the top-four race wide open.

Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League table and seven points behind the fourth-placed Blues, though the Reds, who won the Champions League two years ago, have two games in hand.

Victory in both would make the deficit just one point with two matches to play and Henderson’s leadership may have come in very, very handy if that scenario materialises.
