Newcastle United are finally off the mark after claiming a first Premier League win of the season against Burnley, and some fans on social media loved Miguel Almiron’s display.
Callum Wilson scored the only goal of the St James’ Park affair in the 40th-minute for his sixth of the campaign. The win moved the Toon off the bottom of the table and into 19th-place at Norwich’s expensive, with the Canaries visiting Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Newcastle, Norwich and 18th-place Burnley are now tied on 10-points in the relegation zone. The Clarets remain above the Magpies by virtue of their superior goal difference.

Wilson beat Nick Pope for the only goal of the game after the Burnley goalkeeper failed to deal with a Joe Willock cross, dropping the ball invitingly in the area for the Newcastle ace.
Almiron had already come close to scoring earlier in the first-half with a long-range drive in search of an opener. Nathan Collins also deflected wide another of the Paraguayan’s shots.
The Magpies’ £42k-a-week dynamo proved a particular threat all game and caused Burnley plenty of issues. He also threw himself into a raft of duels and ran himself into the ground.
Howe eventually took Almiron off in the 85th-minute for defender Federico Fernandez to give Newcastle an extra layer of support to weather Burnley’s late search for an equaliser.
