Johan Djourou has taken to Instagram to share a picture of himself alongside Mikel Arteta and Granit Xhaka, as he made a return to Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, the 35-year-old, who left Arsenal in 2014, paid a visit to London Colney to visit some of his old teammates, such as Arteta.

Djourou revealed he was delighted to be back, as he wrote “what a feeling” as the caption on his photo, while adding that it was a “beautiful” day.

You can see a photo of the ex-Gunner alongside Xhaka and Arteta below.

In total, Djourou made 144 appearances for Arsenal across a decade at the club, and seemed overjoyed to make a return to his old stomping ground.

The Swiss colossus ended his career at Nordsjaelland, before retiring in June 2021.

Evidently, Djourou still holds the Gunners close to his heart, as London Colney wasn’t the only place he visited.

The ex-Gunner also seemed to attend Wednesday’s thrilling 4-2 win over Chelsea, as he was filmed giving an interview to AFTV after the game outside Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have made a habit of giving roles to their former players who played under Arsené Wenger, such as Arteta, Freddie Ljunberg and Per Mertesacker.

We’re not quite sure what role Djourou could be offered – if any – but seeing as he was invited back to London Colney, something could be in the offing.

If not, it was nice to see Djourou return, and it’s pleasing that ex-players feel welcome enough to pay Arteta and the squad a visit from time to time.
