‘What a convenient time’: Some Arsenal fans react to Emery’s tweet after latest defeat

Arsenal fans on Twitter have swarmed to Unai Emery’s Twitter message following their defeat to Everton on Saturday and after Villareal’s 3-1 win against Osasuna.

The timing of his Twitter message couldn’t come at a better or worse time depending on how you look at it.

It has been just over a year since Emery was sacked by Arsenal and then replaced by Mikel Arteta, who is having the toughest time of his life at the Emirates Stadium – a feeling Emery knows far too well.

When Emery was in charge, he got a lot of stick for how his team performed and how they failed to secure Champions League football.

Well, it seems those very same Arsenal fans would be keen for him to return and they have apologised for their actions given the situation they are in now.

Arsenal are battling for relegation, and whilst they ponder whether they will drop into England’s second-tier under Arteta, their former boss is fighting for the title in Spain.

It’s pretty amazing how things have panned out since and where things are seemingly heading.

By the looks of it, Arteta will be out of a job by the end of the season and Emery may well guide Villareal to Champions League football.
