Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips has been fairly reserved in training ahead of his side’s match against Manchester United on Sunday, Patrick Bamford has revealed in an interview with Hylo Athletics on Instagram.

Phillips has been with Leeds since he was a child, so he knows exactly what it means to supporters to play against the Red Devils.

When Leeds first took on Manchester United, Phillips was apparently very vocal in expressing just how important the game was.

But Bamford has suggested that the England international has been far more reserved this time around.

“Kalvin’s one of them [who know what the game means],” he said. “He hasn’t played it up as much this time, but definitely the first time around we played them, he’s like ‘this is a massive game.’

“He’s tried to tone it down a little bit, but the fact it’s at Elland Road makes it better. A shame the fans aren’t there.

“This week he hasn’t said much. He’ll probably talk more the day before the game, but being from Leeds it’s massive for him as well.”

Leeds go into the game in great form, having taken four points from their last two matches.

Despite having an intimating fixture list, Leeds have gone unbeaten against Manchester City and Liverpool, in the build up to the game against Manchester United.

Leeds, therefore, should go into the match with plenty of confidence that they can pick up a result and further strengthen their position in the top half of the Premier League table.
