Tottenham Hotspur are not facing monetary issues over finding a new manager, Jack Pitt-Brooke has suggested on The View from the Lane podcast.
Tottenham are still searching for Jose Mourinho’s replacement, in what is starting to become a drawn out process now.
Initially there were fears that Spurs simply may not be able to afford a compensation package for a manager who is in work.
But Pitt-Brooke suggests that actually isn’t the case, and Tottenham have sizeable funds to spend on the right man.
“One good bit of news is that I know some people have speculated that there wouldn’t be any money for the new candidate. Well, we’ve heard that money isn’t going to be a big problem,” the Athletic journalist revealed.
“It’s not like Spurs are only looking at people who are currently out of work. Mourinho is beneficial to Spurs financially.”
The update certainly is interesting, as it throws some big name managers back into the equation for Tottenham.
Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag have previously been ruled out, but if Tottenham can afford either – then they may not be totally out of the question now.
Either of the aforementioned duo still remain unlikely, but both could be appealing options for Spurs.
The fact that Tottenham do have money to spend does make the North London club’s options seem more plentiful though.
And it will be interesting to see who Tottenham pick as their top choice for the job, after taking so long to find the right man to date.
