The Burnley midfielder has endured a frustrating season so far.

Ashley Westwood possesses plenty of Premier League experience having made 140 appearances in the division but the midfielder currently finds himself in a difficult position at Burnley.
Westwood is highly regarded by manager Sean Dyche but has been unable to force his way into the Burnley starting lineup this season due to the impressive form of midfield duo Jack Cork and Steven Defour.
Indeed, Westwood has been restricted to just seven Premier League appearances so far this campaign and unless one of Cork or Defour suffers a serious injury it is difficult to envisage how he will feature frequently in the remainder of the season.

Westwood is capable of providing Burnley’s midfield with balance given that he is extremely composed in possession and he will hope that his circumstances improve in the near future.
Burnley have earned much praise for the performances that they have produced this season, with Dyche’s side working extremely effectively as a unit, and the manager has been reluctant to make many alterations for fear of disrupting their cohesion.

If Westwood’s situation persists until the end of the campaign then he may well seek to move elsewhere but for now he has to cope with being part of the backup brigade.
