Weston McKennie has told Tyler Adams via his Instagram story that he is ‘proud’ of the Leeds United midfielder after he won the USMNT’s Male Player of the Year award.
It has been a whirlwind 12 months for the 23-year-old, who moved to Leeds in the summer for £20 million (Sky Sports) and also represented his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The USA were booted out at the last-16 stage by the Netherlands, but Adams, who donned the captain’s armband, did impress when his nation recorded a goalless draw against England in Qatar, as well as a strong showing throughout the tournament.

Jesse Marsch’s side might be hovering two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone, but Adams has still been a strong performer and he showcased that during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday night.
And now the hard-hitting midfielder has been rewarded because he has been recognised as his nation’s best player of 2022, after earning a tad over 71% of the votes, according to Goal.
Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie and Adams’ midfield partner in crime took to his IG story to react to that news and posted the following message: “Proud of you bro,” said McKennie added with heart and praying hands emojis. “You deserve it.”.

WESTON MCKENNIE LINKED TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE
A fair few American players have started joining the Premier League, with Leeds playing their part, as McKennie could be another to boost those numbers.
The Juventus star has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs, with journalist Ben Jacobs sharing back in October on Twitter that Leeds have ‘scouted’ the player ahead of a possible January move.
But those in Yorkshire aren’t the only ones keen because Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur also want to sign the player.
