Hammers summer signing Andre Ayew sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and admitted that his start to life in East London has been particularly frustrating, after suffering a serious injury earlier on this season.
Slaven Bilic has been incredibly short on forward options throughout the course of this season, with injuries sustained by the likes of Ayew, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho.
But things are now starting to look up for West Ham, with the return of many of their key men, and their gradual rise up the Premier League table.
And the 27-year-old Ghana international shared his desire to help his club during the remainder of their campaign, during an interview with WHUFC.com, highlighting how difficult his first few months with the Hammers proved to be:
“It was very frustrating the start I had here. I think when you come, you have good intentions and want to help the squad. Then you get a really bad injury, and even when I got back I still had some pains and I was playing through the pains. I was out for two months or maybe three. I knew if I didn’t get injured again, the pain would go and now I’m much, much better and I can help West Ham.”
If Ayew could return to his best, and showcase the kind of form he displayed on a regular basis during his time at Swansea City, then West Ham could have the prospect of an exceptionally dangerous strike force on their hands.
And with the club looking upwards now, seventh place must be a genuine target, with just nine points separating them and Everton – who currently occupy the final Europa League qualifying spot.
