For most West Ham United fans, what has been a disappointing season can’t end quick enough.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
The Hammers have endured a torrid second season under Slaven Bilic after their record breaking farewell campaign at Upton Park.
Knocked out of the Europa League, EFL Cup and FA Cup in embarrassing fashion, the East Londoners then lost star player Dimitri Payet after he forced through a return to Marseille.
Bilic turned things around after Christmas as the club pulled away from the relegation zone but results have dipped again of late with no win in five and three defeats on the bounce.
A triple injury blow to key players Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Pedro Obiang – arguably West Ham’s best three performers this season – look set to make it an uncomfortable end to the season for Bilic.
While there should be no worries about being sucked into a relegation battle, our run-in predictions do not make great reading.
Based on current form, a distinct lack of options at Bilic’s disposal and fixtures against teams with a lot more to play for than the midtable Hammers we can only see the East Londoners picking up another seven points from the remaining nine games – taking the club to the magic 40-point mark come what May.
