The West Ham United manager has already found himself the target of heavy criticism.
West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass sat down for an exclusive interview with the Scottish Herald, and offered high words of praise for his manager Manuel Pellegrini, highlighting how much a positive influence the Chilean has already had on his game.
The 31-year-old joined the Hammers from Hull City in January 2017, but he failed to make an instant impact at the London Stadium, and he was swiftly shipped out on loan to Aston Villa for the entirety of last season.
Snodgrass impressed during his spell with Villa, and returned to West Ham at the end of last term, with renewed optimism following the appointment of Pellegrini.
The Scotland international spoke exclusively to the Scottish Herald, and shared how much he is enjoying working with the Hammers boss:
“I’m working with one of the best managers. He’s won the Premier League (with Manchester City) and managed in La Liga and I can only learn from people like that. He’s been great with me, he’s always talking to me. That was the case from the off.”
Labelling Pellegrini as one of the game’s best managers might be considered as a slight exaggeration, in spite of his previous success with Manchester City.
A true test of the Chilean’s mettle will be whether or not he is able to excavate West Ham from their current plight, and with a run of incredibly tough games on the horizon, the jury is still very much out on the experienced boss.
