Sam Byram joined West Ham United, not Everton, in January 2016, and now he could reportedly be on his way to Nottingham Forest.

Sam Byram of Leeds United tackles Martyn Woolford of Millwall during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Millwall at Elland Road on February 14, 2015 in Leeds, England.

Much was expected of Sam Byram when he joined West Ham United from Leeds United in January 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Independent to be worth £3.7 million, but the former Elland Road prospect has failed to make an impact at the London Stadium and is now being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

According to The Sun, Premier League club West Ham want to send Byram on a season-long loan deal to Championship side Forest in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old is reportedly not in the plan of West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini, and the right-back will probably wonder what if he has joined Everton instead of the Hammers.

Sky Sports reported back in mid-January 2016 that Everton were in advanced talks to sign Byram from Leeds, but the defender moved to West Ham instead.

Byram, who can also operate as a right-winger, has had injury issues during his time at the Hammers so far, but when the former Leeds star has played, his performances have not been great.

Perhaps things could have been different at Everton, although the Toffees must think that they dodged a bullet.

Seamus Coleman is going strong as ever at right-back, and in hindsight, signing Byram would have been a waste of money for Everton.
