The Liverpool front-man is allegedly attracting attention from West Ham United.

Manuel Pellegrini manager

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will be desperate to freshen up his attacking options at the London Stadium this month, with Andy Carroll still struggling for fitness and Lucas Perez having failed to settle in east London.

According to a report from the Daily Star (January 9th, page 43), the Hammers have identified Liverpool hitman Divock Origi as a potential January signing, and the Belgian would be an excellent addition for Pellegrini’s side.

West Ham have made a bad habit of signing ageing stars well past their primes in recent years, and the potential addition of Origi would buck that concerning trend.

The 23-year-old possesses blistering pace, and he always looks to make penetrating runs in behind the opposition’s defence – something that would provide Pellegrini with an entirely different option through the middle.

Origi is also an excellent finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity.

The Belgium international has never really been given ample chances to prove his worth at Liverpool, and a move to West Ham might be just what he needs to reinvigorate his career.

The Hammers desperately need an injection of youth in attack, with three 30-year-old’s and a 29-year-old currently serving as their four first choice forwards.

And Origi could be just the ticket for West Ham.

The Belgian has a lot to prove, and he will be hung to show that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.
