Newcastle United have reportedly rejected a bid from West Ham United for the centre-back.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Newcastle have rejected a £25 million bid from West Ham for club captain Jamaal Lascelles, and if true, the Hammers’ bid serves as further evidence of the east London outfit’s new-found ambition this summer.
Manuel Pellegrini has already brought in Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Łukasz Fabiański and Jack Wilshere, whilst Andriy Yarmolenko is close to joining the Chilean’s revolution at the London Stadium.
West Ham owners David Gold and David Sullivan have endured heavy criticism from the Hammers fans since they took the club over way back in 2010, but it seems as though they are finally giving their fanbase something to cheer about.

The east London outfit were woeful last season if truth be told, and they spent most of their campaign with the threat of relegation hanging over their heads.
Many expect Pellegrini to guide them back into contention for the European places this season, however, and they have begun the summer by making a series of real statement signings.
Although Lascelles doesn’t seem like he will be joining the Chilean’s rebuilt at West Ham, the mere fact that West Ham reportedly made a £25 million offer for his services just goes to prove that they mean business this season.
