West Ham United are keen on Spezia hitman David Okereke.

David Okereke may not be a household name to Premier League fans just yet, but West Ham United supporters may need to start getting familiar with him.

Okereke, 20, has been a sensation with Spezia in Italy’s second tier this season, hitting 10 goals and 12 assists in a superb campaign.

The Nigerian is a winger or striker, and with his blistering pace really catching the eye this season, it’s no great surprise that he’s now attracting major interest.

Tuttomercatoweb reported last week that West Ham want to sign Okereke, seeming taking a real liking to the youngster’s displays in Italy.

If West Ham fans brushed off that initial rumour, they may need to take notice now. Spezia sporting director Guido Angelozzi has offered his comments on Okereke’s future, confirming several teams want him.

Angelozzi confirmed that West Ham are interested in Okereke, but so are others clubs too, with no numbers in terms of a fee being discussed right now.

“Several teams are looking at him,” said Angelozzi. “West Ham, but not only. There are so many. But no numbers, it’s not the time to make assessments,” he added.

With so much interest in Okereke, West Ham would be wise to get a deal done quickly, added a rapid young forward with huge potential to Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking options.
