West Ham United completed the signing of the Frenchman on a free transfer yesterday.
Hammers new-boy Patrice Evra sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and insisted that people should not mistake him for someone who is not fully committed to the game purely because of his playful nature on social media.
The 36-year-old officially joined West Ham on a free transfer yesterday, having not played a competitive game since November after being released by Ligue 1 side Marseille.
He has enjoyed a highly-decorated career within the game thus far, however, winning five Premier League titles and a Champions League with Manchester United and two Serie A titles during his spell with Juventus.
He will no doubt bring a winning mentality with him to West Ham, but whether he will be able to handle the robust nature of the Premier League at his age remains to be seen.
He is confident in his own ability, nevertheless, and explained how hard he works every single day to give himself the best opportunity to succeed, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website:
“Of course, this is my motto. I am a very positive person, I love to be happy, smiling and laughing, but I always say the Patrice on social media is Patrice, but Patrice Evra is the one who is working hard. For me, this is my adrenalin, this is really important for me so now I just want to challenge myself.”
Evra could be in line to make his debut for the east London outfit against Watford on Saturday, and if he does play, it will be very interesting to see whether he is up to pace with the speed of the English game, having been absent from action for so long.
