West Ham United youngster Martin Samuelsen has been speaking to the club’s official website about his lack of chances at loan club Blackburn Rovers.

The Norwegian international is highly rated at the London Stadium and after a successful temporary spell at Peterborough United last season, this year’s move to Rovers was expected to see him take another step towards the Hammers’ first-team.

However, things have not gone according to plan and the 19-year-old has only managed four appearances for the Championship side to date, racking up just 131 minutes in all competitions.

After spending the last five matches on Rovers’ bench, Samuelsen was grateful for some game-time when he returned to West Ham to play for their under-23s against his loan club’s next generation.

“I just enjoy playing football really,” Samuelsen told whufc.com. “The last time I played was here for the under-23s against West Brom so I’m delighted to be able to play today.

“At Blackburn I’ve been working hard and going in to train pretty much every day because I haven’t been playing. I’ve been doing the extras to allow myself to be more fit when I get the chance to play.”

Although Samuelsen only has two first-team appearances for West Ham’s senior side under his belt his time will come, regardless of the opportunities he may feel are passing him by at Ewood Park.
