The West Ham United midfielder got on the score sheet for the under-21s this week.

Ben Clappison of Hull tackles Martin Samuelsen of West Ham during the Second Leg of the Premier League U21 Cup Final at the KC Stadium on May 04, 2016 in Hull, England.

West Ham United midfielder Martin Samuelsen has been speaking to the club’s official website after his goal helped the under-21s to victory against Bristol Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening.

The Norwegian international has remained at the London Stadium this season after some mixed loan spells in recent seasons, and his form for the second string is likely to have caught the eye of West Ham manager Slaven Bilic.

Samuelsen scored one of the goals in a 3-1 victory, with the always impressive Toni Martinez grabbing two, and the 20-year-old admitted that he had finished chances like that countless times in training.

“I’ve scored those goals 10 thousand times in training, worked on those types of shots, reacting quickly,” he told whufc.com. “So when I saw the ball I was confident I was going to score.”

Samuelsen then went on to praise his fellow midfielders Nathan Holland and summer signing Sead Haksabanovic, with who he is developing an impressive partnership.

“We enjoy playing with each other,” the West Ham youngster added. “We understand each other’s movements and I’m very happy to be playing with them.”

Holland has been tipped for a first-team breakthrough sooner rather than later, while 18-year-old Haksabanovic made his senior bow in the EFL Cup clash against Bolton Wanderers earlier this season.

He was also an unused substitute in the second and fourth round and will be hoping to get more chances in the coming months.

In time, Samuelsen, Holland and Haksabanovic are all expected to force their way into West Ham’s first-team and the way they develop together now could make for lasting success.
