The West Ham United skipper hasn’t enjoyed the best of campaigns this season.
West Ham United’s Mark Noble celebrates
Hammers star Mark Noble has been the target of heavy criticism from fans and pundits alike this season, but his performance against Tottenham on Friday suggested that he is far from over the hill, as he topped the Premier League’s running statistics, having clocked up 7.8 miles, as reported on page five of Monday’s print edition of the Sun’s Goals pull-out.
The West Ham captain turned 30 today, an age that is seen by many in the football industry as a benchmark for when players’ powers begin to wane.
Noble was superb on Friday night against the Hammers’ arch rivals, and produced a display which proved to be a smack in the face for his critics, showcasing his ability to dictate the tempo of a game from deep.
He zipped the ball around with panache, whilst mixing it up with the Spurs players from a physical aspect.

And perhaps the most impressive part of his performance was his work-rate, which did not diminish one little bit throughout the entirety of the game. In fact, the 7.8 miles he clocked up was more than any other Premier League player over the course of the weekend’s games, as reported by the Sun.
Noble has been accused of losing his legs this season, but if Friday night’s display is anything to go by, he has plenty of years left at the highest level.
